Murry’s Mealtime Challenge Inspired a Better Bowl

 

Murry came into our lives on Christmas Eve—a tiny, five-week-old pug puppy who needed a little extra love and care.
 

Because he was not fully weaned, we initially fed him by hand. Those quiet moments created a special bond between us, but as Murry grew and began eating independently, we noticed that mealtime was not easy for him.
 

Like many flat-faced pets, Murry approached his food differently. He ate quickly and worked hard to gather food from an ordinary round bowl. The bowl would spin and slide across the floor while food scattered onto the cabinets, walls, and surrounding floor.

We tried to find a bowl that worked better for the way he ate. Most of the choices we found were variations of the same traditional round design—and none addressed what we were seeing at Murry’s meals.
 

That question stayed with us:
 

What if the inside of the bowl could help a flat-faced pet gather food more naturally?
 

From Murry’s Problem to a Patented Design

 

We began developing a different kind of feeding bowl—one created around the way short-snouted pets use their tongues and faces to reach their food.
 

The result was Murrybowl™, a patented, floor-based feeding design with a utensil-inspired interior:

• Spoon-like angles help guide food toward accessible areas of the bowl.

• Fork-like ridges provide backstops for the tongue, helping pets scoop and collect their food.

• A wide, open shape gives flat faces more room to approach the meal.

• A substantial cast-aluminum base helps keep the bowl from sliding across the floor.

• Removable blue and yellow inserts make cleaning and changing bowls simple.

When Murry tried the first working prototype, we saw the difference we had hoped for: his food stayed better contained, the bowl remained in place, and mealtime became more successful.
 

That was the moment we realized Murry’s solution could help other families facing the same frustrating mealtime struggles.

Murrybowl began in our home, but it was created for a much larger family of French Bulldogs, Pugs, English Bulldogs, Boston Terriers, Shih Tzus, Persian cats, and other short-snouted companions.
 

For us, Murrybowl is more than a pet product. It represents years of observation, development, persistence, and love for a little pug who inspired us to rethink the traditional pet bowl.
 

Murry showed us the problem. Love inspired the solution.
